Facebook had announced the beta testing of its payment system. The Facebook Platform Payment System would allow the transaction to happen within Facebook applications, i.e. Facebook would accept payment from users directly inside Facebook applications without the use any third party payment like Paypal. The Facebook payment system would allow users to purchase and sell both virtual and physical goods and services inside the Facebook apps.
But the payment system is still on hold. It seems that Facebook is not yet willing to come in the middle of third party payment systems. InsideFacebook writes:-
When asked directly about the future of a Facebook Platform payments system this afternoon, a Facebook spokesperson said, “We’ve been excited by advertising and payments solutions provided by the market, and we currently do not have anything to share around a Facebook Payments system at this time.”
